Your Turn #139
A party of ideas--that's what Suffolk legislator elect Ed Romaine said the Republican Party needs to become after major defeats in recent elections. We agreed. Viewers added some ideas of their own.
Kelly Platt of Center Moriches writes:
"The changing of the guard in Brookhaven Town from Republican to Democrat is a wake up call. It was all about the corruption at Town Hall. Now, all eyes will be on the new town board members and supervisor. Will they protect our quality of life? The next two years will be a time for the Republican Party to regroup."
AmyLynn Ortiz of Rocky Point had similar thoughts:
"This election was a big turn in events. I think the Republicans needed a time out in power so they can reflect on what went wrong, and how to fix what is broken. This is the only way they will regain support. They need to run new faces and not the same career politicians that the public is tired of seeing. Same faces and career politicians equals corruption."
We also told you about a mind-boggling arbitration deal that awarded $280,000 in pay to Nassau PBA head Gary DelaRaba, making him Nassau County's highest-paid employee.
Steve Haar of Bayville sent this e-mail:
"DelaRaba is an embarrassment to the Nassau County police department. He is out for himself only and paying him $280,000 is insane. His job description calls for no more than $75,000 and the arbitrator who decided this should be jailed."
We thank our viewers for taking their turn, and invite you to
do the same.
